The legendary sailor Knut Hansen is the face of our gin – an honest guy, who didn’t let anything or anyone stop him on his journey, taking the freedom to head for the places he always wanted to see and having countless adventures along the way. Our trip to Japan was as unique as this year's special edition. A journey of discovery between tradition and modernity. Besides the botanicals for the special edition, we were able to collect moments we will never forget. Our encounters and conversations have shaped the Yorokobi Edition. Yorokobi means joy, and that is precisely what we want to share with you. For this year's special edition, we used neutral rice-based alcohol. The selected Japanese botanicals were macerated in an alcohol-water mixture for at least 24 hours and then distilled. To particularly highlight the aromas of the main botanicals, we distilled them individually. Our Yorokobi Edition is characterized by a delicate and balanced flavor profile that embodies typical Japanese elements. The mild sweetness harmonizes perfectly with the subtle notes of tea, blossoms, and citrus fruits. This understated combination creates an elegant taste experience. Taste: A complex mix: matcha‑tea earthiness, light vegetal‑herbal bitterness (from goya cucumber / herbal botanicals), and a subtle sweet‑sour interplay reminiscent of ume‑plum or preserved fruit notes. Aroma: hits of cherry‑blossom (Sakura), fresh cucumber / bitter‑melon (goya cucumber), green‑tea / matcha‑leaf.
